What is meant by Behavior modification?

A traditional strategy for changing behavior was behavior modification, which made use of operant and response conditioning. Based on methodical behaviorism, overt behavior was regulated using consequences, including positive and negative reinforcement contingencies to enhance desirable conduct, or giving positive and negative punishment and/or extinction to lessen problematic behavior.

To deal with phobias, it also employed flooding desensitization. The term "applied behavior analysis," which refers to the application of behavior analysis, is currently in use. It is based on radical behaviorism, which is B. F. Skinner's theory that cognition and emotion are forms of covert behavior that should be treated under the same conditions as overt behavior.

(7) Traditionally it is the job of women and children to spend their days searching for water. C. (9) Sadly, even after that water is found, only some of its clean and safe enough to drink. D. (4) For many parts of the world, however, this is not true.

Answers

The correct answer is C. (9) Sadly, even after that water is found, only some of its clean and safe enough to drink. The apostrophe for contraction should be here: "only some of it's clean and safe..." If "its" were a possessive pronoun (e.g. the dog is wagging its tail), it wouldn't need an apostrophe. However, here we have a contracted form "it is" = "it's". It needs an apostrophe because of the contraction, so the reader could see that those are actually two separate words forming a subject + predicate relation.
A) Water is not everywhere, it's miles away.

It was a guillotine indeed, and the hangman was the first barber, who, attired in a white coat and smoking a cigarette, leaned nonchalantly against the first chair. In the above passage, what is Fitzgerald’s primary purpose in using the guillotine metaphor?

to make the act of the haircut seem more ominous
to foreshadow how the haircut will affect Bernice
to introduce the barber as a dangerous man

Answers

Answer:

to foreshadow how the haircut will affect Bernice

Explanation:

The given excerpt is taken from "Bernice Bobs Her Hair" written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It is a short story written in 1920. The story was first published in May 1920 in the Saturday Evening Post.

The story is about a wealthy girl named, Bernice. In the month of August, she pays a visit to her cousin's house, Marjorie. Bernice is unattractive and no boy wants to dance with her. Her cousin then teaches how to be a 'society girl' and teaches her how to flirt with boys. After learning all these manners, Bernice becomes talk of the society specially among boys. Warren who was first interested in Bernice cousin, Marjorie, shifts his interest to Bernice. Jealous of this, Marjorie, tricks Bernice in bobbing her hair. After the hair-cut, Bernice again become less attractive to boys. There's a party held in the honor of Marjorie and her mother, so, Bernice decides to leave before the party. But before leaving, she sneaks into the room of Marjorie and cuts her braids.

In the given passage, Fitzgerald used the metaphor of 'guillotine' to foreshadow that this haircut is going to have an effect on Bernice.

'Guillotine' is a tool used to behead criminals.

This use of metaphor shows that Bernice is now going to be beheaded and this is going to impact Bernice's social life again.

So, the correct answer is second option.

The correct answer is...

C. to foreshadow how the haircut will affect Bernice

I need creative ideas for an essay I'm writing ! Basically, we have to write about a person's dreams. Therefore, I need to invent a character and find creative and original dreams he would've had one night (could be connected to his personality, problems he's had in the past or in the present or it could be just weird dreams connected to nothing). I'm hoping you can help me, I have 0 ideas and have to hand out a 1000 word paper in less than a week !

The character can be called Samuel and one of his dreams can be that he thought he was lost

Here's an idea I just randomly thought of when I read your question:

Just imagine a guy (the guy dreaming)  waking up (in the dream) in a white space. Everything is white and the guy walks and doesn't see anything. You could create a backstory for the character and one thing he could see in the white space could be someone he used to know (or someone/something he had lost) like his grandfather or someone close to him. He sees the person/thing and is confused as what to do/say. He walks around the person/thing. He starts talking but can't talk because no words come out.... IDK this is just a random idea lol
